Nutritionist reveals the best foods to reduce bloating - and what to avoid

As the saying goes – you are what you eat. And what you eat, and don't eat, can impact more than just the number on the scales.
"Every single cell in our body is made up of the macro and micro nutrients from the foods that we eat," nutritionist Amelia Phillips said in an interview on Today Extra.
From headaches, to insomnia, joint pain, and bloating, Philips shared some advice around foods you should add and strike from your diet to potentially help reduce many of these common ailments.

Between 10 to 25 per cent of otherwise healthy people complain of occasional abdominal bloating. As many as 75 per cent describe their symptoms as moderate to severe, while about 10 per cent say they experience it regularly.
As Phillips explained, the biggest thing that causes bloating is a change to your diet.
"Even if you're changing to a healthier diet you might still get bloating and that's… just your gut 'bugs' adjusting," she said.
Foods to avoid
She also revealed some foods you should avoid to help reduce bloating. These include:
- Dairy products
- Beans
- Soft drinks
- High-salt foods

Foods to eat
In terms of things that you can eat, Phillips said suggested:
- Low-fructose fruits
- Citrus
- Berries
- Unsweetened yoghurt
