Make-up at the gym

There's a fine line between "I woke up like this" and sweaty panda eyes.

Whether you're hitting the gym straight after work or you've got a gym crush you want to look good for, there are make-up products that will serve you better if you're getting your sweat on.

We hit up a bunch of trainers to find out what their favourite products are to save you the trial-and-error.

Garnier BB Cream for yoga teacher and PT Kirsten Scott

"I swear by Garnier BB Cream because I like to let my face breathe. I avoid any sort of powder because sweat makes it look gross almost immediately and oil-based foundation can trap sweat in your pores. Matte is just not going to happen – it's all about glowy and dewy!"

Jane Iredale Mineral Powder for exercise physiologist Veronika Larisova

"I use Jane Iredale mineral powder as it lasts all day and doesn’t clog up my skin. I also love the Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express mascara because it doesn’t smudge and is easy to remove, unlike waterproof mascara. I use these when I run a marathon race and always run through the finish line looking pretty much the same as at the start."

Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Make-up Setting Spray for Nicole Adamson, TherapyCare PT

"I love this because it holds my make-up in place. After I've cooled down from my workout, my face looks just as fresh as it did beforehand, which is so handy if I need to run an errand or two before I get the chance to shower."

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer for yoga teacher Nina Sabey

"I swear by Veil Mineral Primer by Hourglass – it's oil free and prevents my skin from looking red and oily even during a bootcamp or hot yoga class. Plus it's vegan-friendly."

M.A.C Lightful C Tinted Cream SPF 30 for mums' fitness expert Jen Dugard

"I'm such a simple make-up girl -–I really just throw on some M.A.C tinted moisturiser for everything I do! I like it because it gives some coverage, isn’t too thick and doesn't seem to come off too much when I sweat."

Face Halo for trainer Lizzy Williamson

"I use Face Halo to remove make-up. I always have one handy for the post-workout racoon-eye look after mascara or eyeliner ends up under my eyes. They don't require any additional product and are so much more environmentally friendly than face wipes because you reuse them a few times before washing."
